First Impulse: Plastiques Introduction
Two-day Immersive Workshop
Available spots
Service Description
Before language, before analysis—there is impulse. Join us for this immersive 2-day workshop July 19-20 introducing the Plastiques method—a precision-based movement practice rooted in the work of Jerzy Grotowski. Developed as a physical vocabulary, Plastiques trains performers to isolate and articulate each part of the body, cultivating a deeper awareness of how movement, breath, and impulse flow together in expressive form. Led by instructor David Prete, this workshop invites participants into a process that is both rigorous and deeply personal. Through physical detail work, guided prompts, and supported improvisation, you'll learn to move before you think, speak from sensation, and respond with presence. There are no mirrors. No performance. Just you, your body, and the possibility of something true. Whether you're new to Plastiques or returning to refine your practice, First Impulse offers a unique and transformative entry point into a training that sharpens the body’s intelligence and reawakens creative instinct. This is the first in an ongoing series of movement-based trainings exploring the principles and lineage of Grotowski’s physical theater practice.
