Service Description
A Workshop for K–12, Continuing Education, and Post-Secondary Instructors This professional development workshop introduces educators to the Plastiques method—a movement-based training approach rooted in the lineage of Jerzy Grotowski—and explores how this precise physical vocabulary can support creative learning, embodied presence, and impulse-led expression in a wide range of classroom and studio environments. Led by David Prete, the workshop is designed not only to immerse educators in the practice, but to equip them with tools for teaching it. Participants will experience the core principles of Plastiques firsthand—detail work, flow, breath, voice integration—and then explore adaptations for different age groups, learning settings, and instructional goals. This workshop is ideal for: Drama and theatre educators Movement, dance, and physical education teachers Artist-educators working in correctional, community, or therapeutic settings Professors or teaching artists in acting, devising, or voice training Educators interested in somatic learning, trauma-informed pedagogy, or nonverbal expression What you'll gain: ✔ An embodied introduction to the Plastiques method ✔ Foundational knowledge of how to guide others through detail-based work ✔ Strategies for adapting movement prompts and sequences across age and ability ✔ Insight into impulse-led teaching, classroom presence, and embodied engagement This is a hands-on, movement-based training. No prior Plastiques experience is necessary—just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to move.
